Import of keywords

Importing Large Quantities of Keywords to your Myposeo Tools

For users needing to create audits or tracking campaigns on large keyword volumes, it is possible to import large quantities of them in a .csv file to your Myposeo account.

Below is an example illustrating the import of keywords to the SEO Rank Tracking tool. The process is the same for the Audit tool as well.

Click “Create a campaign”, and under the ‘Simple Project’ tab you will have an option to add your keywords.

There is no import file here; you have to manually enter the keyword expressions that you want tracked in the box. While it is quick, it may be inconvenient in cases where you have over 10,000 keywords, plus you will have to split the list multiple times.

Importing a .CSV list of Keywords when Creating a Tracking Campaign

As the name suggests, under the ‘Import CSV file’ tab , you will be able to import a file with all the keyword expressions you want to track in your new SEO Rank Tracking campaign.

Click the “Download example file” link. When the file is downloaded, all you need to do is fill in the columns with the following details:

Column A: Create groups for the keyword expressions in your campaign
Column B: The following keyword expressions
Column C: The search engine
Column D: Target country
Column E: The language
Column F: The device (Desktop or Mobile)
Column G: A particular location

Important note: It is possible to follow the same keyword on several different search engines, devices, and locations. To do this, you need to multiply the number of lines according to the different tracking settings on the same keyword.

For example: Tracking the keyword “iPhone 7” on desktop and mobile = two lines in the file. Align with “desktop” entered in Column F and another line with “Mobile” in Column F.

Once your list of keywords is complete, save as a .csv and a UTF-8.

Click on the “CSV download” button to upload your keyword file.

A progress bar shows you that the process has begun and the progress of the upload. You will be informed if the upload is valid or not. If it is not valid, details will appear allowing you to check the conformity of the imported data, number of lines, search engine, device etc. to ensure a successful upload.

Click the “Import and Access Project” button

This will start the creation of the project and subsequent tracking of the imported keywords.

What about for an Existing Rank Tracking Campaign?

To import keywords into an existing campaign, first, go back to the specific campaign

  • Click on the “Add” button > New keyword
  • Click the “CSV Download ” tab

From here on, the sequence of actions is the same as explained above.

FAQs

Does importing a keyword file into a current project overwrite all of the keywords / existing groups?
No, only the new keywords / groups will be added to the campaign

What happens if I import existing keywords into my campaign?
In this case, the duplicate keywords will not be imported as the tool scans the list and excludes all duplicate keywords.

What happens if I import existing keywords into another group?

It is possible to enter the same keyword in a group and you import the same keyword into a new group, the keyword will simply appear in both groups and will be counted as one keyword consumed.

If you are already tracking a keyword in a group and you import the same keyword into a new group, the keyword will simply appear in both groups and will be counted as one keyword consumed.

Format of CSV File for Imports

SV import allows you to import keywords massively within a project.

/!\ Attention /!\

The order of the columns is essential

The format to be respected is as follows:

(the table below can be copied/pasted if necessary)

Adgroups - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

Keywords - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

Search engine (Google, Bing) - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

Country (Fr, GB, etc.) - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

Language (fr, en, etc.) - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

Device (desktop, mobile, tablet) - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

City, (Paris (75), Marseille (13), Lyon (69), etc.) - DO NOT DELETE THE FIRST LINE

  • Keyword group: the name of the keyword group to which the keyword will belong
  • Keywords: your keyword to follow
  • Engines: the search engine that will be queried (google / bing / yahoo)
  • Country: the country to be surveyed
  • Language: language of the country to be surveyed

If you enter an engine that does not exist, then the keywords will not be added.

The list of engine pairs / Countries / languages is available here

Once your file is finalized, you must export your file in UTF-8 csv format.

The .csv export from Google Sheet works perfectly.

Are Existing Keywords Deleted with New Imports?

If you import a CSV file into an existing project, the Myposeo platform automatically adds the keywords to the existing list within the project. No keywords will be replaced or deleted unless requested by the user.

Import of keywords via a public Google Sheet link

Small novelty to facilitate the import of keywords when creating a project, but also when adding an existing project.

Import your keywords directly via a Google Sheet shared document. And thus avoid CSV export/import steps with potential formatting errors.

Remember to make the document public and respect the file format.
